Syn was tasked with creating the soundtrack to this emotive project by CNN, highlighting Europe’s refugee crisis in 2017. By engaging musicians from around the world, Syn made this a truly global collaboration.

This project for CNN was truly and international effort, combining collaboration with Minted Content’s executive producer Lance O’Connor in LA, music from Syn, orchestration by Todd Hayen in Toronto, and a 40-piece orchestra in Macedonia, all listening remotely from respective parts of the globe. Recording the orchestra in Macedonia provided real authenticity to the project, as the refugees in Greece use Macedonia as their gateway into Europe. Syn was proud to win an Emmy in 2017 for this project and has continued to have strong relationship with CNN.
