Plastic pollution is a problem that has reached a critical threshold. Every minute, the equivalent of a truckload of plastic waste is dumped into the oceans, requiring centuries to disappear. This means that by 2050, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. With over 20 years of commitment leading the way in eco-responsibility in the textile industry (the brand has been listed in the DOW JONES SUSTAINABILITY INDEX, the industry's leading sustainability index, for 20 consecutive years), adidas continues to drive sustainable change in its industry with its End Plastic Waste initiative. By 2024, the brand has committed to only using recycled polyester in all its products. Already this year, more than 60% of its ranges will be designed in this way, with the launch in 2020 of PRIMEBLUE and PRIMEGREEN materials, two new sustainable technologies using 100% recycled polyester. adidas is also teaming up with partners such as Parley for the Oceans, Stella McCartney and Allbirds to co-design solutions that will help put an end to plastic waste.
